These days, Jen calls the LA area home, and much as we all have favorite spots in our own neighborhoods, here is a sampling of the establishments that Jen frequents:

Restaurants

Nobu Malibu - This restaurant is a celeb fave for its great sushi and chic ambiance (3835 Crosscreek Rd., Malibu) (310 317 9140).

The Ivy - Notorious for its celebrity scene, The Ivy is said to have fabulous food as well. Its specialty is chic American cuisine (113 N. Robertson Blvd, LA) (310 274-8303).

Il Sole - Il Sole has been one of Jen’s faves since the Friends days (the cast even went there to celebrate the finale). Casual and unpretentious, this spot boasts delicious Italian food (8741 Sunset Blvd., West Hollywood) (310 657 1182).

Marix Tex Mex Cafe - Jen is known to love Mexican food, and this is a favorite spot. Its chill vibe and noted KickAss Margarita have been known to draw quite a crowd (1108 N. Flores Street, West Hollywood) (323 848 2458).

Planet Blue - On many an occasion, Jen has been spotted here, perusing their unique selection of upscale goods (800 14th St., Santa Monica) (310 394 0135).

Fred Segal - Like many celebs, Jen frequents Fred Segal for quality fashion at 500 Broadway, Suite G, Santa Monica (310 394 9814).

Other
Chris McMillan The Salon - This salon, owned by Jen’s friend and stylist Chris, is noted for its relaxed, unpretentious vibe, as well as its outstanding work. Located at 8944 Burton Way, Beverly Hills (310 285 0088).

Montage Resort, Laguna Beach - Jen has been spotted here; for those in the LA area, it’s a great place to get away while still close to home (30801 South Coast Highway, Laguna Beach) (866 271 6953).

Remember all the whisperings about Sam Rockwell a few months back? Well, it turns out that they will be working together, as many have already suspected. However, what is new is any info of any sort about the project. According to Us Weekly’s new interview with Sam, the project is called You Are Here. Starring Jen, Sam, and Peter Saarsgard, the film’s plot centers around a love triangle. It is set to begin filming early next year (perhaps leaving time before that for another of her rumored projects). Stay tuned!

Looks like the security staff at L.A.’s Tower Bar has some new, high-profile fans. From the New York Post:

Last week, an entertainment freelance reporter for one of the weeklies was unceremoniously booted after she was caught texting people that Jennifer Aniston was there with her new beau, Paul Colford. “Security was called and she was told to never come back,” our insider said. But the journo didn’t go quietly - “She made a huge stink and started screaming.” As she was being tossed, “The entire bar - including [Aniston], Bernie Brillstein, Kate Hudson and [former Paramount head] Donald Deline - started applauding, and some people even stood up.”

Presumably, Colford=Sculfor. Anyway, good to know that there are those ensuring that Jen can enjoy a night out with her man.

Monsters and Critics informs us that Jen and Paul have kept rather busy:

Jennifer Aniston has told her new man he is better in bed than her ex-husband Brad Pitt.

The former ‘Friends’ actress is currently dating former builder Paul Sculfor and is said to be very impressed with his bedroom skills.

Her close friend Tiffany Laws said: “He bought Jen a huge bunch of flowers, then had chocolates and champagne delivered. She loved that. Jen goes by what her heart is telling her, and the initial indications are really good. She’s not bothered about gossip. She will give him a chance to show he’s the right guy for her.”

Grain of salt and all that, as it appears to be hearsay and the named source is not known to be in Jen’s inner circle, but it surely is lovely to know that Jen’s new man is making her very, very happy.

Jen was out and about in Hollywood quite a bit this weekend, although her ever-present Smartwater bottle was more of a stealth presence. First, she was snapped leaving Sunset Towers in a lovely summer outfit; she was reportedly there with Paul, who, even though we don’t see them together, seems to be almost as ever-present as her Smartwater (which, like many of you, I have found myself buying more and more):

Jen was spotted at Wednesday night’s Police concert at the Staples Center. It has been reported that Courteney and David were in attendance as well; PopSugar gives us some shots of Jen leaving the venue, looking very casual-chic.

She also gave a few interviews on Tuesday night at the book party; one can be found at Access Hollywood, and a tidbit from Hello magazine mentions plans to film Wanted in LA!

Finally, remember Joey’s deal with Phoebe in TOW the Fake Party, where he offered to go vegetarian for her during her pregnancy? He then asked her whether beer contained meat; here’s a surprising answer to that question.

On Tuesday night, Jen made a surprise appearance at a party held at ONE Sunset for author Laura Day, best known for her bestsellers on intuition and self-empowerment. Jen looked stunning in a classic Prada LBD and happily posed for photographers. Here is a selection of photos from WireImage; People gives us a picture of Jen with Demi Moore at the event.

Room 10 has been recognized at the CineVegas Film Festival with the Short Film Jury Prize! The festival, which featured such films as Ocean’s Thirteen and Year of the Dog, handed out its awards on Sunday and the film was selected for the honor by a team of professionals in the film and television industries. Congratulations to Jen and Andrea on a job well done!

In a press release yesterday, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (the good folks who brought you the Oscars) announced their list of artists invited to join as voting members, and Jen was invited! She is in very good company, as the list also includes such names as Steve Carrell, Jennifer Hudson, and J.J. Abrams. All who accept their invitations will be inducted in an exclusive ceremony in September, and will be eligible to vote for the Academy Awards. Congratulations to Jen for this well-deserved honor!

It can be said that Smartwater is the perfect accessory to any outfit, for any occasion. At the very least, it surely seems that Jen thinks so, as she has been spotted with a bottle on her hand twice within a very short span. First, the above photo from People shows Jen enjoying a bottle on the set of a photoshoot and wearing a goddess-worthy white dress. Then, she was later photographed outside the Chris McMillan Salon (looking gorgeous, might I add) with another bottle of Smartwater in her hand (more at x17 Online):

One unexpected treat that came out of my work on The Break-Up was the opportunity to listen to the Old 97’s for pretty much two days straight. Being hopelessly out of touch with the musical scene, I had actually never heard of them before, so I was glad to discover that they were actually quite good. They performed tracks from the 1997 album Too Far To Care, and they were very cool during downtime, mingling with the extras on the scene, many of whom were Old 97’s fans.

Tom Nawrocki, formerly of Rolling Stone, gives us his view of the concert scene here:

He asks Jennifer Aniston on the DVD commentary if she liked filming the scene, in which she goes to see the boys at the Riviera, and she replies, “I liked listening to the Old 97s.” Good on you, Jen.

Chicago (where the film is very deeply set) has always been big for the band, and is obviously where the Empty Bottle of “Barrier Reef” fame is, although the Riviera looks loaded to the gills. Also, Rhett looks like he spent as much time on his hair as Miss Aniston did.

By the way, that packed theater was a bit of movie magic; they moved the same few people around a lot.

Old 97’s, The Break-Up, Jennifer Aniston, behind-the-scenes

This premiere, in February 2004, was the final stop on a whirlwind publicity tour for the hit comedy Along Came Polly. Jen and costar Ben Stiller had not only attended premieres and press junkets in the United States, but overseas as well, and this event afforded many European fans the opportunity to meet her. She branched out a bit in the fashion department, opting for a red Valentino dress (said to have been made for Audrey Hepburn!) and wearing her hair up in a trendsetting side bun. By all accounts, she was warm and gracious with her fans (amid increasingly chilly temperatures) and was truly the belle of the ball.

Some months ago, writer Katherine Nagle was quoted as saying of Jen, “Oh, that one can sing and she’s such a joy to work with.” Many were puzzled by the quote, as Jen is not known to be much of a singer, but an upcoming project may reveal this hidden talent of hers! From Reuters/Hollywood Reporter:

Jennifer Aniston will produce and potentially star in a period musical about singing prisoners. “Goree Girls” revolves around eight women at Texas’ Goree Prison during the 1940s who formed one of the first all-female country and western acts in the country and captured the hearts of millions of fans in the process. The project is set up at DreamWorks, which is looking for a director.

X17 Online brings us pics of Jen arriving at Shutters on the Beach, the hotel at which it is said that one Paul Sculfor is staying. Not that this bit of information is at all related to the fact that Jen visited the hotel twice in one day, mind you. Clearly, she’s there for the world-class raquetball courts. And if anybody deserves a good game of raquetball with a quality opponent, it’s Jen.

This weekend brought some Paul sightings and speculation:

- On Saturday, he was seen out at dinner with a group of friends including Victoria Beckham. Paul has been friends with Victoria for years, leading some to believe that Jen will be part of Posh’s new LA posse.

- Later that evening, he arrived at Jen’s Malibu house and left the following morning wearing the same clothes . . . and carrying a Smartwater bottle!

- Many of Paul’s friends have come out of the woodwork with tidbits about his past and their impressions of Jen. His dad, interestingly, wasn’t even familiar with Jen’s work prior to Paul’s involvement with her but so far seems to be impressed. A friend of Paul’s was Jen’s next-door neighbor a few years ago, presumably during her marriage to Brad, and only had wonderful things to say about her sweet, down-to-earth nature.

Jen’s friends, presumably a bit more wary of the media, are keeping mum, but it does seem that she is in for a wonderful time, given the privacy that she so deserves.
