set 3

This is the song that doesn’t end . . . yes it goes on and on my friend . . .

Gossips know that there is nothing more profitable than flogging a dead horse. Even though all parties involved have moved on, the tabloids most definitely have not. So it only makes sense that nearly three years on, Brad Pitt has reentered Jen’s life - on the cinema screen, that is. From WPSD:

Jennifer Aniston shocked cinema-goers in Los Angeles - by sneaking into a screening of ex-husband Brad Pitt’s new movie.

The actress was spotted with fellow Friends star Courteney Cox at the Landmark Cinema watching The Assassination Of Jesse James By The Coward Robert Ford.

Aniston was seen walking into the cinema, attempting to hide beneath a baseball cap.

First of all, only for a celebrity does a trip to the movies make news. I’m surprised that no reports have surfaced of exactly how much salt she put on her popcorn. Second of all, given that Jen has been in Portland filming Management for nearly a month, I have some doubts about the timing and/or location of this sighting; therefore, I have doubts about the truth of it as well. Third of all . . . there is no third of all! She is a free woman, and if she wants to see a movie that just so happens to star her ex-husband, more power to her. If not, that’s her prerogative as well. But if it is true, that baseball cap disguise (?) just goes to show that she wants to be left alone.

Speaking of Jen whereabouts, here’s a bit of legitimate news. It turns out that filming on He’s Just Not That Into You isn’t over after all! The production is set to resume filming on location in Baltimore next month, and one local fan locked in the chance to walk on the set. This location shoot is said to involve all principal cast members, which means that Jen will likely make the trip (and this explains why going with a wig for Management was a practical choice!). Anyway, this definitely means more to come.

Friends: Season 8

Season 8

Certainly the season to attract the most critical attention, Season 8 brought us the storyline of Rachel’s pregnancy, as well as the romantic complications that ensued. Not only do we find out that Ross is the father of Rachel’s child, but in a controversial twist, Joey confesses his love for Rachel. Meanwhile, Monica and Chandler navigate the realities of married life, and Phoebe . . . is Phoebe. A look at some of Season 8’s most noteworthy episodes:

The One After “I Do” This episode, picking up where Season 7’s finale leaves off, resolves the cliffhanger that revealed that the positive pregnancy test was, in fact, Rachel’s. As the truth is revealed to Monica and Phoebe, Rachel realizes the impact of this outcome, and eventually not only accepts this development but embraces it. Jen gives one of many great performances in this episode, realistically portraying the mix of emotions that a woman in Rachel’s situation would experience.

The One Where Rachel Tells . . . Thanks to a conveniently placed red sweater, everybody knows that Ross is the father of Rachel’s child - except for Ross himself, that is. She approaches him to rectify that, and the response that she gets is . . . perhaps not what she hoped. However, Ross eventually emerges from his catatonic state and is supportive, although he and Rachel clash on what support entails. The pair’s scene at the OBGYN office is simultaneously one of the most touching and hilarious moments of the series.

The One With The Videotape This episode provides a flashback to the “bonus night” on which Ross and Rachel conceived their child. Ross, in practicing his seduction techniques, accidentally videotapes the encounter. Rachel finds this appalling, but she quickly engages in the “who came on to whom” debate. As it turns out, both parties favor a particular seduction story - one that both can trace back to Joey.

The One With The Rumor As Friends Thanksgivings tend to be, this was among the strongest episodes of the season, but this one attracted quite a bit of attention, as it featured Jen’s then-husband Brad Pitt. He appeared as a Lincoln High alum who cofounded the “I Hate Rachel Green” club with Ross, and it is revealed that the club started a rather unflattering rumor about what Rachel had underneath that cheerleading uniform. While certain offscreen circumstances have since changed, this episode remains thoroughly entertaining.

The One Where Rachel Has A Baby The title says it all - in this episode, we welcome baby Emma, and a fair amount of drama along with her. Rachel goes through the longest labor in the history of labors, and the presence of Janice at the hospital does not make it any easier. Once Emma has, at long last, come into the world, Rachel becomes nervous about the upcoming challenge of single motherhood, and Joey’s attempts to comfort her lead to a rather unfortunate misunderstanding - involving a wedding ring and a bended knee.

And yet another Management pic!

Edit: Picture removed due to copyright

Pics from this production have, er, managed to trickle out rather slowly, but the ones that we do get are great. This one, from Access Hollywood, shows Jen entering into (fake) holy matrimony with Woody Harrelson. Just a month after she (fake) married Ben Affleck on the set of He’s Just Not That Into You; our girl gets around (in the fictional sense)! Wonder what stalker, I mean, respectful admirer Steve Zahn has to say about this latest development?

New pic from Portland!

Portland

There have been plenty of Jen sightings around Oregon, and there’s now a picture! Sky Showbiz brings us this snapshot of Jen en route somewhere in Portland, and although she’s dressed down, Jen is stunning as always. As she often does when the temperature drops, she has bundled up in a giant scarf, and settling days of debate, this pic proves that the darker ‘do that we spotted her with last week is simply a very convincing wig. As many of her recent sightings have been in fine restaurants, it is perhaps not surprising that Jen has consulted Portland Monthly to discover other quality establishments to enjoy during her stay. And of course, she has her trusty smartwater in the other hand (oddly enough, I’m drinking a smartwater as I type! Stars really are just like us . . . maybe).

Management set

KGW, an Oregon news station, has spotted Jen leaving the Management set on Thursday night. Check out their video here. It’s quick, and she’s wearing a big coat with a hood, but you can still see our girl looking terrific and waving to the crowd. Clearly, she is making a wonderful impression on local fans, and from the looks of it a great movie will come out of this production as well!

Speaking of Management, this article spotlights two locations to be used in the film. One location is Tulatin Indoor Soccer, an indoor soccer arena. In an exciting twist, stadium owner Monty Hawkins confirms earlier scoop that Jen plays soccer, saying that her character uses the sport to unwind. CI Bar and Grill is another Tulatin location to be used in filming; Jen’s character has a rendezvous with Steve’s character here. Owner David Phillips says of his bar’s selection for the film, “Everyone’s got a little ego, and it’s nice to have your place picked. It’s like putting it on the map.” He also says that film crews plan to redecorate the bar to create a Western-style environment.

Finally, backtracking a bit, a new interview with Jennifer Connelly gives us some new scoop on He’s Just Not That Into You. The actress plays a co-worker of Jen’s character, and reveals the unique challenges of filming with a Jennifer, another Jennifer, and a Ginnifer:

“I was a little bit more trepidacious, just because it’s new ground for me,” Connelly said. “I play a woman named Janine; Ginnifer Goodwin plays my best friend, and I work in an office with her and Jennifer Aniston’s character. You can imagine what that was like on set, and all the Jennifer jokes. Bradley Cooper plays my husband, and I’m really neurotic about my house renovations.”

So right now, our girl has one film in the can, another one filming, and many more to come. She said it in her Bazaar interview, and I’ll say it here: she’s back.

A surprise for Coco, and more Management

Friday, October 19th, 2007

chair

Even though Courteney Cox is known to have a passion for interior design, it is Jen who treated Court’s daughter Coco to a room redo, according to Janet Charlton’s Hollywood. The doting godmother splurged on child-sized versions of modern pieces by Eero Saarinen and Mies Van Der Rohe, and chose carpeting and other items to compliment the new furniture. With Jen’s impeccable taste, the end product was, most likely, amazing. Coco is a lucky little girl!

According to Oregon’s Willamette Week, Jen may be treating herself next. Portland’s Fashion Week kicks off today, featuring pieces from local designers with a focus on environmental savvy. As Jen is currently in the area filming Management, it is not entirely implausible that she might make an appearance, even though she has said in the past that fashion shows are not something that she typically enjoys. This event looks to be a bit more low-key than many fashion shows, and what better way to take in all that Oregon has to offer? Stay tuned.

She’s already been winning them over, though; according to PoppyandIvy, Jen has been dining out around Portland, and unsurprisingly, she has charmed waitstaff and fellow diners with her easygoing demeanor. Furthermore, although there haven’t been any new pics of Jen on the set since last week, filming has continued to take place. Flynet brings us some very amusing shots of Steve Zahn playing volleyball with a group of Buddhist monks. Furthermore, word on the street is that Jen plays soccer in a scene, although as previously stated, there is no photographic evidence of this. This is certainly shaping up to be an interesting project, though!

More from the Bazaar interview

Bazaar cover

People brings us excerpts from Jen’s Bazaar interview, due out on newsstands October 23. She declares herself back after a break from the spotlight, and talks about her future, both personal and professional.

One matter that she discusses with the magazine is her desire to move to New York, saying that she is “just tired of Los Angeles.” She says of a recent trip to New York, “If you can get away from the paparazzi and they don’t know where you are, you can actually walk, walk, walk.” Without a doubt, such a media favorite as Jen would relish an opportunity to get away unscathed; furthermore, the city holds a great deal of nostalgic appeal for Jen given that she spent many of her early years there.

Whichever coast she chooses, however, Jen has learned the hard way how to maintain sanity in the sometimes harsh glare of media focus. Jen tells the magazine, “I used to care a hell of a lot more about what people said or thought. But that had to change when my life was under a microscope being scrutinized and my personal life was being talked about.” Her experiences in recent years have taught her to keep media speculation separate from who she is as a person, and this is a lesson that she is more than happy to share with younger stars, warning them to keep their focus on doing good work rather than buying into hype.

As for Jen’s own future? She tells Bazaar about her upcoming production effort Goree Girls, and even suggests that she may star in the musical. She says, “Yep. I can carry a tune, and I was known to throw out a jazz hand from time to time in high school.” She also fantasizes about switching places with her friend Oprah, and says that if she worked for the government, she would like to be “a very glamorous spy who plays poker and lives in Monaco, and has affairs with Daniel Craig.” Sounds like we have a wonderful interview to look forward to!

Fan spotlight - Laura

Derailed

Laura, a 16-year-old student from Germany, is a veteran Jen fan whom I have known personally for a few years now. A reliable presence on Jen message boards, she has been known to maintain a level-headed approach in her appreciation for Jen and her work. Above all, though, she is a really cool girl and always a pleasure to talk to, and this interview was no exception. Without any further ado, here is what she had to say:

Management
A new look?

Management has been very quietly filming for some time now, and I don’t know about all of you, but I have been on the edge of my seat waiting for a sneak preview. Well, thanks to Sky Showbiz, we have one! This shot shows Jen on the set, sporting a dramatically different look for the role, with darker, shorter hair and a very casual wardrobe. She has managed (no pun intended) to stay under the radar while in Oregon, and perhaps this explains her sudden magical ability to go incognito. Assuming that she has actually gone to the dark side (which she is no stranger to) and not just gone the wig route, that is. More on this as it develops; what do we think of this look?

Edit: More under the jump!

Breaking news: Jen in Bazaar!

Friday, October 12th, 2007

Bazaar cover

Entertainment Tonight gives us the scoop about Jen’s upcoming cover appearance on the milestone 140th anniversary issue of Harper’s Bazaar! She discusses her upcoming projects, including the recently filmed He’s Just Not That Into You and Management, which is currently filming. She also tells the mag about her presumably excellent decorating sense, as well as the possibility of a move to New York!

This issue also reflects on the magazine’s history as a women’s interest publication that goes beyond the simple matter of what to wear. Bazaar prides itself on its history of keeping the pulse of society and bringing newsmakers to the forefront. As this marks Jen’s third cover appearance (previous covers were last year and in 2003), she is certainly no stranger to that principle. From ET Online:

Reflecting on the past 140 years of Harper’s Bazaar, America’s first fashion magazine, Editor-in-Chief GLENDA BAILEY says, “Harper’s Bazaar has always been for the well-dressed woman with a well-dressed mind-someone with a point of view as sharp as her stilettos and a sense of humor that is as smart as her sense of style. We’re not just about hemlines, we’re about headlines. To paraphrase COCO CHANEL, a fashion magazine doesn’t exist just in dresses, it has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening.”

We can look forward to seeing this issue on newsstands on October 23rd.

Jen for OneVoice

Tickled Pink

According to E! News, Jen is set to lend a hand in two concerts for peace led by Canadian photographer/musician Bryan Adams. The concerts will take place in Israel and Palestine, and they will be broadcast by satellite to other venues in major cities the world over. In addition to music by Israeli and Palestinian artists, the concerts will feature video messages from Jen and a variety of other celebrities. As we know, Jen has been involved in a variety of causes, and this event is of particular interest, as it reunites Jen with Adams, who photographed her in 2004 for the Tickled Pink campaign for breast cancer research (above). From E!:

Bryan Adams has announced he will headline two peace concerts Oct. 18, calling for an end to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict as part of the New York-based OneVoice Movement. The organization seeks to create a grassroots movement to bring about a two-state solution to end decades of strife.
………

Also lending their support to the campaign are Danny DeVito and wife Rhea Perlman, Brad Pitt and, ironically, ex-wife Jennifer Aniston, Natalie Portman, Edward Norton and Seinfeld alum Jason Alexander, all of whom will reportedly contribute video messages which will be shown during the concerts.

Jen has long been involved in causes that promote peace and prosperity around the world, and for years she has stated that a personal goal of hers is to educate herself on world affairs. It is wonderful to see her making good on that, and OneVoice, the organization behind the concert, takes a unique approach. They seek to resolve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict through the participation of both governments, and during the concert and related events, they will petition concertgoers for their support. Those unable to attend the concerts can still show their support at onemillionvoices.org.. While Jen has always been modest about her contributions, this is one instance in which a public stance is necessary, and her alignment with this cause can only do positive things in furthering their mission. The diverse array of supporters speaks for itself; peace in the Middle East is a goal whose achievement benefits everybody.

Chicago

To kick off the fan interviews, I spoke with Caity, a 17-year-old student from Chicago. A relative newcomer to the Jen fan scene, she has been a fan for about two years; nevertheless, she knows her stuff and is very enthusiastic! Here is what she had to say (under the jump):

Want to be a star?

Friday, October 5th, 2007

Star

Well, I can’t promise you fame and fortune, but here’s the deal. Every now and then (maybe weekly or so), I would like to interview a Jen fan and feature the profile right here. However, you need to tell me why I should. I don’t take a whole lot of convincing, so no worries. All I need to know is that you are a fan. So, this is what I need from you to start out (either via email or a comment on this post):

Name full name, first name, or alias, whatever you want spelled out in lights
Location of course, if you’re on the run from authorities, I will not be involved in any attempts to throw them off
Age it’s only a number, after all
How long have you been a Jen fan? pretty straightforward
Why are you a Jen fan? keep it brief, we’ll go into greater detail in the interview
Any unique Jen-related experiences? just yes or no for now, save your stories for the interview
Best means of contact? I would prefer to conduct these interviews over IM, but if this is not available to you let me know how to reach you and we’ll work something out

We’ve all read tons of Jen interviews, and now it’s your turn! Those selected for an interview will be contacted privately upon selection. Even if you aren’t chosen right away, that doesn’t mean that you won’t be; ideally, I’d like to do as many as possible! So good luck to all who submit, and I look forward to getting started!

Jen in Oregon!

Thursday, October 4th, 2007

set 6

Jen has been spotted at a chic Portland eatery, meaning that she has officially made the trek up to Oregon and will begin production on Management very soon! From Willamette Week:

I had coffee with Jennifer Aniston last night. Okay, the fact is I was having coffee in the bar and she was having dinner upstairs at Northwest Portland’s poshest of eateries, 23 Hoyt . Still, I totally could hear her, and there was no mistaking that “Friends-ly” voice of hers as she talked how awful it was that Little Miss Britney had to give up custody of her kids. Prior to dinner, Aniston, dressed in a long black coat, threw back a dirty grey goose martini (god, I am so happy she drinks) before digging into her heritage via Chef Christopher Israel’s Greek salad of heirloom tomatoes, sweet peppers, cucumbers, red onion, feta, kalamata olives and oregano vinaigrette as well as a ample serving of Algerian grilled chicken with two sauces. Sitting across Aniston, who was joined by her crew for the film she is now shooting in Portland called Management, was none other than Pink Martini chanteuse China Forbes. (Man, does she run with the right crowd, or what?) But there was no sign of Orlando Bloom, who according to published reports was vacationing with Aniston last weekend in sunny Mexico.

Sounds like she’s already winning them over! And on an ever-joyful note, looks like gossips are playing it fast and loose with the concept of “vacationing together”; whatever makes for a sensational story, right? Anyway, it does seem that we can look forward to seeing Jen on the Management set very soon!

Jen tops the list!

Wednesday, October 3rd, 2007

TBU - London 3

According to a recent analysis by Forbes, Jen is the star whose image is the most likely to sell magazines. Their study model, which includes likability, cover frequency, and newsstand sales, showed that without even trying, Jen performs strongly in all of these categories. In the study period, which spanned the first half of 2007, Jen appeared on the cover of every tabloid except for In Touch, and her likability index was second only to Sandra Bullock’s. Candace Trunzo of Star magazine cites the much-publicized twists in Jen’s personal life as a factor:

“She’s the classic wronged woman,” says the editor. “I think that most women can relate to and empathize with someone that was so in love with a man who, in an incredible Hollywood twist, leaves her for his co-star in a film.”

Ultimately, though, it seems that likability plays a most significant role, as this is a trait that Jen shares with others on the list. Reese Witherspoon and Carrie Underwood, who scored right behind Jen in likability, were both among the top ten. Britney Spears and Paris Hilton, the two stars rated least likable, fell behind. What does this mean for Jen? While it is always a positive to be well-liked, this means that the media intrusion on her personal life will continue for as long as there is money to be made. And right now there is a lot of money being made from stories about her. Luckily, with Jen’s experience in the public eye, we can count on her to handle it all with class. Perhaps it’s wishful thinking, but with her recent spurt of activity on film sets, maybe these media sources will turn their attention to the fact that she is an actress, and in fact a very good one. After all, it’s not like they’d be telling us something we don’t already know!
