Jennifer Aniston hangs onto her hat as she heads to The Bounty set

It’s another day on the set of The Bounty! After a successful opening weekend for The Ugly Truth, Gerard is back on the set of his latest project, and he and Jen had their work cut out for them! The two stars got wet on the set yesterday, but they weren’t alone in the festivities - their stunt doubles went along for the ride (pictures at PopSugar). Jen’s had her trusty dog Norman keeping her company on location, and it turns out that Gerard has a furry friend of his own! More pics of Jen on set below the jump.

X17 does report some unhappy news - Jen was a passenger in a minor fender bender while leaving the set. Luckily, it does not appear that she or anyone else involved was hurt, but nevertheless, I’m sure that it was quite frightening. I hope she’s okay!

Jen’s on the run!

Jennifer Aniston pumps her hand up victoriously getting a successful take after several unsuccessful tries at a Brooklyn, NY Dunkin Donuts

Just another day on the Bounty set - Jen spent Friday on the run! She was snapped in Brooklyn filming a scene where her character Casidy had to run from a cab - in heels and a skirt! Jen showed incredible coordination and balance by doing multiple takes of the tricky scene - so when she finally nailed it, she couldn’t help but celebrate with a triumphant gesture and a smile. It’s a tough job, but someone’s gotta do it - and she makes it look really, really good. More of Jen running on the Bounty set under the jump!

Jen in the West Village

Jennifer Aniston kicks up her heels, then picks up dog poo on the set of The Bounty, NYC

Another day on the set! Never one to rest on her laurels, Emmy nominee Jen was hard at work yesterday on her latest project The Bounty. This time, filming was in NYC’s West Village, where an impeccably dressed Jen helped a woman pick up her dog’s poop! No word on whether this action was on camera or off, but either way, she sets a great, responsible example!

Her costar Gerard wasn’t on the set - lately he’s been busy promoting The Ugly Truth, costarring Grey’s Anatomy star Katherine Heigl and opening July 24th. There has been a great deal of speculation about him and Jen, but his remarks while doing the rounds put those rumors to rest. He tells People that he and Jen are just friends - but he does have wonderful things to say about his costar:

“She is one classy lady,” he says of Aniston. “Everyday I go to work with her I’m always surprised about how cool, easy and down to earth and real she is.”

He adds, “I’m in New York right now filming and I’m in heaven. I can’t always say that about movies, but to be filming this romantic comedy with Jennifer and a story that made my side split when I read it – I’m lucky. I’m happy as a pig in s—, as they say.”

Start spreading the news . . .

Jennifer Aniston is all smiles on the set of The Bounty on a Saturday in NYC

. . . the New York Daily News, that is! Yesterday, Jen shot some scenes for The Bounty at the Daily News offices, where her character, Casidy, is a journalist. After several days in the same outfit, Jen seemed very happy to finally wear something new!

Not surprisingly, real Daily News journalists had an inside perspective on yesterday’s filming, as many were in the office at the time (even though their onscreen counterparts are all extras). The Daily News has a story about the scene in the newsroom yesterday - it’s not every day they share space with a film crew! Check out their gallery of photos from inside the office - Jen looked the part of a journalist, and stunning to boot. More pictures of Jen arriving at the Daily News can be found under the jump.

Jennifer Aniston on the set of The Bounty Hunter in Far Rockaway, NY

How gorgeous is our girl? Very. Jen was snapped yesterday on the Far Rockaway set of The Bounty, filming more of the scene in the convertible with Gerard. There’s no denying that these two will make a very sexy onscreen pair!

Speaking of sexy, remember Jen’s GQ photoshoot a few months back? Well, now Jen’s pal Sacha Baron Cohen has a new movie coming out, and let’s just say that his photoshoot for the same publication looks awfully . . . familiar. As his alter ego Bruno, Sacha followed Jen’s lead with a nude cover of his own! I do have to say, as hilarious as his antics are, there’s nothing quite like an original. Especially when the original is Jen. More Bounty pics of Jen and Gerard under the jump!

Cruisin’ with cuffs

Jennifer Aniston and Gerard Butler filming The Bounty in NYC

Back to work! After the holiday weekend, Jen and Gerard were on the set of The Bounty today, for a scene behind the wheel of a vintage blue convertible. Jen looked like a ray of summer sunshine, with shades, tousled hair, and a bright smile. All this despite the fact that her character Casidy spends the scene in handcuffs! Looks like things are getting very interesting! (and on a side note, remember Chandler, Rachel, and the ‘cuffs on Friends?)

Filming will last all summer, so we can look forward to plenty more from this sexy duo. This action comedy will bring big laughs to the big screen, and I am definitely looking forward to it. More pics, including pics of Jen showing off her ‘cuffs, under the jump!

Jennifer Aniston rehearses a scene with Gerard Butler with a blue Cadillac and walking barefoot in Atlantic City, NJ

Lights, camera, action! Yesterday, Jen was back on the New Jersey set of The Bounty, this time alongside costar Gerard Butler. As she did on Monday, Jen spent much of the scene barefoot, with her shoes in her hand. She started the day rehearsing in jeans, and then changed into costume for filming. Looks like her character and Gerard’s have an ex-lovers’ quarrel - and she resorts to pedaling the bicycle cab herself! So much for a speedy getaway. Luckily, things seemed to go a bit smoother for Jen offscreen - she had a comfy pair of flip-flops waiting for her, and a ride of her own. No wonder she’s smiling! I’m really enjoying pictures of Jen on this set, and I hope that you do, too. Many more below the jump.

Jennifer Aniston filming the Bounty in Atlantic City

If you see a woman on the run in Atlantic City, do not be alarmed - it’s just Jen on the set of her new movie! She was snapped yesterday on the set of The Bounty, looking gorgeous as always.

In the movie, Jen plays Cass, a journalist on the run from her bounty hunter ex-husband Milo, played by Gerard Butler. When Cass skips bail, she becomes Milo’s next target. Comedian Jason Sudeikis costars as one of Cass’s colleagues.

In the scenes shot on Monday, Jen’s character is seen making a quick getaway by taking her high heels off and running to catch a bicycle cab. And despite the intensity of this scene, Jen did not share her character’s distress - she was all smiles in between takes. More pics under the jump!

He’s Just Not That Into You is coming to DVD this Tuesday! On June 2nd, this charming ensemble comedy, in which Jen costars with an all-star cast (including Drew Barrymore, Ben Affleck, Ginnifer Goodwin, and Jennifer Connelly), will be available on DVD and Blu-ray. The DVD’s features are minimal - the only extras on this version of the movie are deleted scenes, with optional commentary from director Ken Kwapis. However, the Blu-ray edition has a lot more, including a digital copy, a “duet for telephones,” and an interactive newspaper, the Baltimore Blade, featuring the characters from the movie, according to the DVD Times.

Both editions, DVD and Blu-ray, are now available for pre-order on Amazon, and they will be available for purchase at most major retailers starting on Tuesday.

Screen Style: Management

management-2

In playing traveling saleswoman Sue Claussen, Jen played a character very different from herself, and with that, she also had to look different. Many of Sue’s wardrobe pieces are not quite what you would expect to see Jen in in real life, and for this role she also had to opt for a plainer hair and makeup look than usual. However, anyone can see why Steve Zahn’s Mike was attracted to her - even when she’s dressed down, Jen’s beauty shines through.

management-4

Wardrobe: Sue is a no-frills type, and for that reason, costume designer Christopher Lawrence maintained realism by shopping on a budget, at stores such as J.C. Penney. “We really tried to shop in places where Sue would shop, and then breaking that up and making it more soft, so that we sympathize with her, not resent her.” From suits to sweats, Sue’s clothes are plain and practical - but she makes it work. The designer says of Jen, “She’s very beautiful and has such inner charisma and great energy that all of that shines through, even in shabby clothes.”

mg2

Hair/makeup: When production began on this film, many fans were shocked to see Jen sporting a darker, shorter ‘do than usual. As we now know, the style was simply a very convincing wig - Jen later told Cojo that other filming commitments meant that she had to keep her own locks intact, and People reports that the wig was custom-made for her by none other than her good friend Chris. As for makeup? There wasn’t much. Jen wore very little makeup for a natural look.

YouTube find: Stephen Belber at Florida Film Festival

Monday, April 13th, 2009

Management recently screened at Florida Film Festival, and writer/director Stephen Belber was on hand to answer questions about his film. In the above video, Brian Quain of Before You Submit interviewed him about the process of getting it made, from a simple one-act play to the big screen.

Stephen on Jen’s involvement as an executive producer: “Well, when her agent got a hold of it, and said she might be interested and described the plot to her, and said, ‘If you want to give it to her, it’s an offer.’ And I wasn’t sure I was ready yet, and she read it anyway, and expressed interest. And I went and met with her, and her ideas were so good, and so smart, and she was so committed to it, that I was like, ‘Yeah, if you want to help produce,’ meaning, what it really means is that she helped attract the financing, and also she has a certain amount of say on certain things, and thank God on that first meeting she and I had, we saw eye to eye.”

Earlier that evening, after the film’s opening night screening, he took questions from the audience, and in the Q&A, he answers questions about all aspects of filming, from using Oregon to double for three different states to how Jen and Steve got into character as Sue and Mike. Management is already very well-received - Karen Durbin of Elle magazine recently called it “a romantic comedy for our time.” YouTube links for the Q&A session are below:

Coiff-gate, new Management pics, and an interview

Sunday, March 8th, 2009

030209-17

- By now, I’m sure you’ve all heard many media sources report that Jen spent a gazillion dollars getting her hair done. Or something on that order, for all the fuss out there. Naturally, I have my own thoughts on the situation - check out Hot or Not Beauty for my full article.

- Management is coming out in just over two months, and with that, some new stills have come out! Check out IMDB for a gallery of Jen and Steve on the set. I’m looking forward to this one!

- Daily Mail has a new interview with Jen from the Marley & Me junket, along with some stunning photos. Some excerpts are below - read the full interview here.

On Greece:

“We lived in Athens, then on an old farm in Crete, which is where Dad’s side of the family is from. You had to put your shoes on to go to the bathroom because it was outside! I went back there ten years ago and I must go back again – it’s gorgeous and the people are lovely.”

On looking back at old Friends episodes:

“You know, when someone says to me, ‘Oh, I saw an old episode of Friends,’ I ask, ‘What year?’ and they say, ‘Oh, I don’t know…’ So I say, ‘Well, what did my hair look like?’ And they’ll say, ‘It was in a bob.’ And I think, ‘OK, that was 2000.’”

On canine craziness:

“In my imagination, they put an ad in the paper saying, ‘We need untrained dogs!’ Some had terrible habits – it was crazy. And the trainers just worked with them for three months to increase that bad behaviour. I mean, they’d get praise for jumping up and chewing the couch. Instead of, ‘Bad dog, no!’ the trainers would say, ‘Good boy, you were really naughty!’”

Screen style - Marley & Me

Thursday, January 8th, 2009

Marley & Me is licking up the competition at the box office, and with that, Jen’s girl-next-door charm has once again won over millions of moviegoers. Not only is her acting in this movie terrific, but she looks phenomenal. Jen’s look in Marley & Me is interesting because it changes over the course of the movie - the film spans over a decade, and during that time, Jennifer Grogan goes from a young newlywed to a mother of three, and she looks the part every step of the way. From the early ’90’s to the more recent past, Jenny’s life changed, as did the fashions of the time, but Jen’s onscreen style is comfortable and tasteful throughout the film.

Clothing: To keep up with Marley, comfort is first and foremost, and sure enough, Jenny’s wardrobe in the early ’90’s consists of a lot of tees, tank tops, and shorts in an array of bright colors, along with sundresses to beat the Florida heat. As time goes by, the palette of Jenny’s wardrobe becomes more muted, reflecting both a change in popular fashion and the character’s more mature taste. By the end of the film, the Grogan family has moved to Pennsylvania, and Jenny keeps out the cold with sweaters, coats, and boots. According to CelebStyle, the brands that she wears include James Perse, Splendid, and that old standby The Gap.

Hair/makeup: Not surprisingly, her beauty look evolved over the course of the film as well. In the press conference transcript at About.com, Jen mentions that the stylists on the set used wigs, extensions, and clip-on bangs to create varying styles for her character. Most of the styling trickery is evident early in the film, when Jenny wears heavy bangs for a younger look. Later in the film, she goes without the fringe and wears her hair simple and straight. Her makeup stays pretty consistent, though, with a natural, glowing look that compliments her bronzed complexion.

That necklace: You know which necklace I’m talking about. The necklace that went on a rather unusual journey, but is gorgeous nevertheless. That necklace is actually two pendants worn on one chain - both pendants are designed by Jen’s pal Jennifer Meyer, who also designed the jewelry that Jen wore in The Break-Up. The Diamond Heart Necklace and the Number Key Necklace can be found at Roseark - or try your luck in PopSugar’s new contest!

Another weekend on top for Marley!

Sunday, January 4th, 2009

It’s another weekend at the top of the box office for Marley & Me! According to Box Office Mojo, the film is still #1, with a weekend take of $24.1 million. Not only did Marley lick the competition, but it reached an important milestone, passing the $100 million mark with a total take of $106.5 million so far. Good dog!

Speaking of Marley & Me, keep your eyes peeled during the obedience school scene; real life meets reel life as the real John and Jenny Grogan appear as extras in the scene, according to production notes on the movie’s website. If you watch carefully you can catch them - John (above, with canine star Clyde at the premiere) is wearing a black-and-white print shirt, while Jenny is somewhat harder to spot, as she is in the far background wearing a gray shirt. Photos of the couple during the “Marley days” can be seen here on John Grogan’s website.

So where’s Jen? She’s in Cabo! Jen went on a New Year’s vacation with pals Courteney Cox, Laura Dern, and Sheryl Crow, along with their families - pictures are at Gossip Girls. Owl’s Lab blogger Ashley reports that John Mayer was also in Cabo, and that he and Jen shared a romantic sushi dinner on New Year’s Day. Jen’s getting some relaxation in, and it’s a good thing because it seems that things are going to get hectic for her very soon! With He’s Just Not That Into You promotion coming up for its February release, and Traveling soon to follow, along with several projects in development, she is going to be one busy woman!

Close encounters of the Marley kind

Friday, December 19th, 2008

Yesterday, I met one of the stars of Marley & Me - one of the four-legged stars, that is! Chicago pet store Tails In The City hosted a meet-and-greet with Jonah, one of the yellow labs who plays Marley in the flick, and I was there, along with many curious onlookers!

Jonah was remarkably well-behaved, in contrast to his onscreen alter ego. According to NBC Chicago’s interview with trainer Larry Madrid, Jonah mostly played Marley in the film’s emotional scenes, and clearly, he was ideally suited for those parts of the film. Jonah was very calm, even in a room full of excited dog lovers, and he very obediently took the trainer’s instruction. And yes, he posed for photos!

So where are the human stars? While Owen goes for a swim with his own furry friend Garcia, Jen has hit the Big Apple for promotional appearances. She’s made time for fun, too - PopSugar has adorable pics of Jen and John taking a walk after dinner at La Esquina. Just a reminder - Jen’s on Conan tonight!

The real-life Grogans have been in on the excitement, too - on his blog, John Grogan talks about his family’s experience at the Marley & Me premiere last week - and speaks highly of Jen and Owen’s performances! He also shares some pictures from the premiere. Early reviews so far indicate that the film is at turns funny and touching - much like the book, and much like life itself. I know that I am looking forward to seeing this movie for myself!
