Cinematic Love Lessons, Jen-style

In the spirit of Valentine’s Day, here are some of the things that we’ve learned about love from Jen’s movies:
It’s the little things that count
In a famous scene from The Break-Up, Jen’s character Brooke notices that her boyfriend Gary has brought home three lemons instead of the twelve that she requested, and she is not pleased; this misstep is later worked into their knock-down, drag-out, break-up fight later in the evening. While something this small seems like a petty arguing point, it is not when it is a mere example of one partner’s pattern of behavior. Every day is a chance to show that you care.
There’s no place like home
At the beginning of Rumor Has It, Sarah felt restless; she felt that she had taken the safe choice by accepting her boyfriend Jeff’s proposal, and that she had missed any opportunity for adventure in her life. However, after her adventures with Beau Burroughs go a bit too far, she soon realizes that safe can be good. A reliable, loving partner is in fact a rare find, and not to be taken for granted.
The truth shall set you free
In Picture Perfect, Kate’s relationship with Nick was strictly business, as the facade that she had put on for her bosses (and her bad-boy crush) required her to stage a public breakup with him. However, it was only after they stopped playacting that Kate saw what was there all along - a nice, sensitive man who simply wanted to get to know the real her.

Nothing says “I love you” like a French maid outfit
If you think I’m kidding . . . you’re totally right. Happy Valentine’s Day!
