Much has been made of the fact that Jen recently turned 40 - people have been talking about the milestone for months beforehand - but when the actual day rolled around, Jen celebrated quietly, with just a small group of friends (and boyfriend John Mayer) keeping her company. E! Online reported on Jen’s star-studded soiree a few days earlier, with guests including Oprah, Tom Hanks, Rita Wilson, and a host of usual suspects such as Courteney and David, but according to People, Jen’s day-of celebration was decidedly more intimate. Guests at the smaller gathering enjoyed wine and champagne delivered from Wally’s Wines and Spirits.

Many of Jen’s famous friends have shared their birthday wishes for her as she enters a new decade. In fact, according to Hollyscoop, Tom Hanks gave Jen a vote of confidence, saying that she doesn’t need his advice! He said, “Life begins at 40. I don’t think Jennifer needs any advice from me. I think she is the most lovely woman on the planet. She always has been.” People revealed that Courteney wishes Jen “more health and happiness,” while fellow February 11th baby Sheryl Crow told the magazine that she and other guests danced all night at Jen’s big birthday bash, saying of the festivities, “that was a sign of a good party!”

Andrea Bendewald, who has been friends with Jen since high school, had some high praise for her longtime pal. She told People, “She’s always known how to have a good time and really live life to the fullest. I think it’s a state of being. It’s a state of what you think is what you are.” There is no doubt in my mind that with an approach like that, the future looks bright for Jen!
