Jen’s beauty
As with her fashion sense, Jen’s choices when it comes to beauty are often classic and very tasteful. Without a doubt, she has certain advantages to begin with, such as great skin and gorgeous blue eyes, but she has also learned over the years to accentuate her assets and in doing so, she has come to truly look the part of a star.
Makeup

The beauty of Jen’s polished look is that it’s not about the makeup at all. She favors a look that doesn’t announce itself as “done” but rather quietly compliments her natural beauty. Her makeup artists often play up her bronzed complexion and her big blue eyes for a sophisticated California-girl look. Not that it’s terribly hard to achieve on her; as makeup artist Angela Levin puts it, “Jen has an amazing ability to see the bright side of things. She has a very healthy, positive outlook on life, and it really does show. I think the beauty secret for a lot of women is happiness - it shows on your face.”
Hair
As anyone who lived through the ’90’s knows, from early in her career Jen has been a tonsorial trendsetter. Her naturally thick, wavy locks have been worn in a variety of styles, but Jen herself seems to prefer things simple, with a long, natural look. She keeps people guessing with subtle changes, though; hairstylist Chris McMillan, with whom Jen has worked for over a decade, has said, “Her willingness to try new things is the best part.” Chris echoes Angela’s sentiments about Jen’s natural beauty, however: “She has a sex appeal without trying to be overtly sexy. She’s a golden girl, head to toe.”

You know you remember this ‘do; in the early seasons of Friends, women everywhere brought pictures like this to their hairdressers, hoping to capture a bit of the magic of TV’s sexiest new character.

It did not take long for Jen to tire of the attention paid to her hair; she soon grew it out in favor of a straight, simple look.

In early 2000, Jen sported extra-long extensions for her ’80’s rock-chick role in Rock Star. While she would later shy away from the use of extensions, at the time they provided a glamorous look for the red carpet and even for her wedding.
Later that year, she shocked fans by sporting a short bob. She later chalked up the impulsive decision to newlywed stress, as well as the desire to see whether she was attached to her hair. Some fans loved the look, but Jen herself was not too fond . . .

By late 2001, the growout process was already well underway.

As the movie roles poured in (Bruce Almighty, Along Came Polly), a natural, tousled style (as sported here at the 2002 Emmys) seemed to fit the bill for these girl-next-door roles.

Late in 2003, Jen changed up her look yet again by having bangs added (as seen here at the L.A. premiere of Along Came Polly).
After Friends ended, Jen wore her hair very long for her role in Rumor Has It, as the role called for a look that was in keeping with the straight-haired fashion that was prevalent in the late ’90’s.
Her role as Lucinda in Derailed called for a sophisticated brunette style.

She lightened back up for The Break-Up, and began to favor a wavy look.

These days, Jen’s hair is long and worn in varying styles that make the most of her naturally thick, beautiful hair.
