Jen’s Career Firsts

There’s a first time for everything, and someone with a career as successful and varied as Jen’s has certainly had some unique experiences. Whether in front of the camera or behind it, Jen has made some interesting choices, and she is poised to surprise many with her future projects. Here, then, is a sampling of some of Jen’s “first times”:
First film Leprechaun was Jen’s very first big-screen venture, and one that she has long seemed eager to move on from. The campy horror flick is noted as a prime example of Jen’s pre-Friends work, and while it is regarded by many as something of a novelty, any viewer can see the young talent that would soon find a more fitting home on Friends.
More under the cut (some spoilers):
First same-sex kiss For all of the fuss surrounding Jen’s Sapphic encounters on Dirt and Friends, these moments were preceded by Jen’s much earlier role in the Off-Broadway play Dancing On Checkers’ Grave. At the age of 19, Jen shared a romantic moment with co-star Michelle Banks - in a pet cemetery, no less.
First onscreen pregnancy While Rachel’s pregnancy arc would intrigue millions of viewers, Jen first showed her maternal side in The Object Of My Affection. She had the “glow” - and some serious reservations about how to create the best possible home for her child.
First antagonistic role In Derailed, Clive Owen’s Charles Schine fell hard for Jen’s Lucinda Harris, as we all did. However, as his nightmare escalated, he realized that not all was as it seemed - Lucinda was part of villain Laroche’s plan from the very start. In fact, her real name wasn’t even Lucinda.
First screen death Derailed also provided the opportunity for Jen to play a dying character for the very first time. In a climactic hotel room shootout near the end of the film, Lucinda/Jane falls victim to a stray bullet and dies on the spot.
Directorial debut Last year, Jen participated in Glamour’s “Reel Moments” project, aimed at promoting women in film. Through this opportunity, Jen directed the dramatic short Room 10. The film centered around words of wisdom from the husband (Kris Kristofferson) of a dying woman; the tales of their long marriage lead a nurse (Robin Wright Penn) to examine her own approach. Jen showed off her unique directorial perspective and lent emotional authenticity to the tale. The film has been a favorite on the festival circuit, and was most recently shown at the Big Easy Shorts Festival.

[...] Of course, Jen fans already know of one very festive flick pick; Leprechaun is not only Jen’s first feature film, but a cautionary tale - don’t mess with a leprechaun’s [...]
