Management reviews, and the latest on Marley & Me
This week, as more critics made their way to one screening or another of Management, their reviews have gradually surfaced. While opinions on the storyline and screenplay are mixed, the critics are pretty much unanimous in their assessment that Jen and Steve give terrific performances. Critic Damian Rogers of Eye Weekly gives the film 3 stars out of 5 - and looking at his other reviews, it seems that he doesn’t hand out stars lightly! Over at Entertainment Weekly (thanks to Meg for the heads-up on this one), critics Dave Karger and Missy Schwartz practically gush over the movie, as well as their encounter with Steve Zahn - although they do wonder about its distribution prospects. After hearing the good things they have to say about it, I really do hope that it does get distributed, and soon! According to Variety, a few distributors have shown interest, so it seems that there is hope yet.
One flick that we will definitely see soon is Marley & Me - and yes, I said soon, because Christmas will be here before we know it! In keeping with that, the poster (at IESB.net) features the title puppy with a red bow around his neck. Somehow I’m thinking that a bow wouldn’t last too long around the real Marley’s neck - but it’s cute nevertheless. Us Weekly also recently included Marley & Me in its Fall Movie Preview - the article not only included a never-before-seen picture of Jen as Jenny, but it also included some new information about the movie!
