More new pics!

A few more pics have surfaced from Jen’s Nobu exit (the Nobu in question is the one in New York). It turns out that Paul was not present; according to Popsugar, Jen was accompanied by some usual suspects including the ever-present Chris. Wonder what brings our girl to the Big Apple?

My name is Jackie Oni, the director of a UK registered charity named God’s Children Empowered Ltd. (registered Charity No. 1114897)
Project Nigeria committe was setup at my work place by my workmates who share the vision of building a school for underprivileged children and are committed to making a difference to the lives of children living in and around Ile Ife, Osun State, Nigeria, with particular attention to their primary level education. We have long nurtured this dream and each day we are coming closer to making it a reality.
To date we have raised £21,000 (through Committee initiatives and Deutsche Bank Charity Funds Matching Scheme) towards our total amount required of £30,000 and request your help in funding the remaining cash to allow us to complete the building of the primary school.
We became involved in this initiative as Jackie Oni, a Deutsche Bank employee, is from this region in Nigeria originally.
As she joined Deutsche Bank, she started spreading the word about her project in Nigeria and formed a charity committee under the name ‘Project Nigeria’. We have implemented different fundraising strategies and have created awareness around the needs of Project Nigeria both in DB and within the City of London.
We have created a local Board of Trustees to best monitor our planned work in Nigeria. These deadline-driven trustees have been carefully picked in their relevance and ability to deliver on our initiatives with accountability. They will be our representatives on the ground and their responsibilities include overseeing the building work, formation of an accounting board, regular liaison with UK Fund Raising Committee, recruitment of teaching staff, builders and children in addition to the implementation of plans for future funding for the school once it has been initially erected.
Project Nigeria is a commuting school not a boarding school. We will work with children that have been orphaned as a result of the recent wars. It will be a primary school for orphans and poor children covering ages 5 to 11 and will deliver education that complies with the Nigerian National curriculum. Multiple ethnic wars, years ago have left several children without parents and a serious need for redevelopment in Ile-Ife. We believe children are the future and the very best way to look forward in Ile-Ife is to invest in its future: the children of Ile-Ife.
We want Project Nigeria to have a life-changing effect on a child that would otherwise lack basic education and miss out on reaching their full potential in life. We also believe that the children at our school could be an inspiration to their entire communities. Moreover, we remain convinced that access to education will enhance their ability to one day become a new financial support for their families and communities.
The school will be built on four acres of land that has been donated which has the potential to be connected to power and water supplies (refer to land plans attached). The school site is close to a well constructed road to allow access and we plan to offer transport to children if they are unable to make their own way to school. Architects plans have been donated to build a school which includes 6 classrooms, a staff room, a computer room, sanitary facilities and potentially a playground.
The school will not be fee-based. It will be governed by Trustees and staffed by local area qualified teachers. We envision a maximum of 20 first year students per class. We are aiming to start the building project in order for the first intake of 20 students to start in September 2007. In 2008, we will roll the second class of 20 students with a capacity of 120 students by September 2013.
The school head along with the counselors and trustees will define the school administrative policies and long-term goals.
The funding we are requesting will enable us to fund the building costs, set up the water supply from the pond, furnish the computer-room, buy basic furniture for the classes, install electricity and acquire a bus for transportation to and from the school. Any extra funding will be rolled over to the school management to cover expenses.
We want to start building as soon as the funds are available. The process will take between 6 – 8 weeks to complete with the rainy season taken into consideration. The building cost for 6 classrooms is estimated at £14,000. The cost will increase by about £5,000 as we will need 3 extra rooms i.e. computer room, toilets, staff room as stated above.
We need your support with our project and are requesting a donation of up to £19,000 to make our vision a reality. We look forward to hearing back from you and developing a long-term relationship with YOU.
Thank you.
