More on the Management DVD
As previously mentioned, Management comes out on DVD on September 29th. Well, Amazon already has it available for pre-order, on DVD and Blu-ray. They also have a couple of behind-the-scenes photos of Jen and Steve, along with an interesting Q&A with Jen!
I found one of her answers particularly interesting. When asked whether comedy or drama is harder, she said this:
J: I’m not sure how to answer that one. Life can be dramatic and funny all in the same day just like the material for a film. So I have to work from right inside. When I step into a role, I don’t think “Oh, I’m going to exclusively use my comedy persona for this job.” That label kind of goes out the door and I concentrate on being true to the character. I think Steve and I were both able to achieve that for this film.
This is something that I’ve always enjoyed about her acting. She doesn’t have a “comedy mask” and a “drama mask” - she plays the character first, and that’s why her transitions from funny to serious are always so seamless and true to life. This was very evident in Management, where she had to play emotional scenes in a pretty absurd scenario. She’s right - life doesn’t neatly categorize into comedy and drama.
